Pandora !! Eywa !! I SEE YOU !!

Heyi,

Its about a really rocking 2 and a half an hour experience which triggered me to write here. Before that.. Hope all of you out there had a great Christmas.

On Wednesday night, pressurized by my brother, I stepped out of the house really tired, worn out and sleepy out for a movie Avatar. I did wanna see that movie but not at the end of a slashing weekday. I removed my contact lenses and changed to my glasses. To my dismay, my bro tells me in the car that am supposed to wear a 3D glass. Normally I leave with contact lens but this day I very specially wore glasses. Reached there, mentally making up my mind to wear two glasses, one on top of the other and saying a silent prayer that it should fit and i shouldn sleep either.

Getting into the theatre INOX was a Herculean task. Getting the car valet parked, controlling my dads temper(for a change, not mine this time), getting the net tickets printed, entering only through one gate, moving one by one, stand in queue for the 3D glass, and get into the theatre one after the other. Such a mess. Nothing beats Satyam Multiplex.

I went in. Loads of expectations and excitement(Courtesy : Adithya(my bro)). His energy levels are really contagious. He has taken after me in that aspect. So, finally the movie started.

The hero was this really smart guy with broken legs though. That din bother me. Slowly I started getting into the movie and then into the most awaited PANDORA. For the benefit of those who haven watched, its a really small planet where the other planets are visible in the skyline. This planet Pandora has living beings who look almost human, with a few deviations though, standing 10 feet tall with an amazing flexible body. This movie is dates way ahead in 2154(jus imagine, we are talkin bout 2012 worlds end), where Humans find their way upto Pandora for its rich minerals. They have put up a research center, where they have DNA merged bodies resembling that of the Na'vi(the natives of Pandora). Technology is used to merge the nervous system of the human body to that of the MADE Na'vi bodies to explore Pandora. Its like controlling a remote body from your brain here. Thus begins the story.
Am not telling anythin more here bout the story line cause its best left unsaid and its for you to watch this amazing Screenplay with a fresh mind.

Pandora comes as a pleasant surprise. It is one of the most beautiful place which i might never get to see. The amount of imagination gone into the beauty of that place, its creations and the things which happen there make you wonder if James Cameroon visited GOD for an appointment to discuss World Designing. Even the small small things such as lights glowing on the ground when they keep every step, the places they sleep, the connections they make which the end of their pigtails and the animal tails make it feel magical. Few of the cute places were the Tree of Voices, Tree of Souls and their parent tree. Everything being connected and everythin working in harmony makes you fall for that place. We live in the enerdy borrowed from nature and nothin is permanent is stressed throughout the movie. The Spirit of Eywa, the very name made me feel good. I am jus not able to stop scribbling here as I liked the movie so much. Made me wonder where the Cinema world is heading to when Films like "Avatar" are made just once in a decade, remaining in the best memories forever.

Everythin in this film was worth a mention, music particularly, stirred my heart and made shivers run through my spine. With all these things who would not want to visit the magical Pandora. The importance of Nature conservation is told in one of the best ways.

I very Badly Wanna visit Pandora. Eywa You Hear me ??

I SEE YOU.. ;)

Contrast !!!

Heyi,

Been a while since i blogged. Today i get the time to enjoy writing along with the rythm of the rain. I dunno why, but life seems to be the best when it rains.

You feel like having stuff hot and drinking steaming mugs of coffee. There are people who say otherwise. They say life is miserable when it rains and that they are not able to continue with their jobs. The best impact rain has is on school students, that too during exam time. Exams getting postponed excites them. One of the classic examples is my brother who spreads this news of joy to each and every person in his class. He takes full pleasure in making my dad pay the phone bill to do a broadcast of "declared holiday" news.

Today..

A total contrast. Its sunshine. I jus think the weather is kind of fully confused with what to do. Keeps changing drastically on a day to day basis. Today is a Saturday, and am working. Thats sad, is not it... I feel bad to come so far on Saturdays but what do I do. Office cannot be shifted for my own fancies right. Still, apart from work i had a lot of things to do today. A concert, alumni meet, dance classes. But this distance between my home and work makes me handicapped. I cannot do anythin when i think about doing it.. Am I actually making my blog a "Cribbing About Everythin" area. Am stopping here.

On a happier note. Things seem to take a turn in life... I have 3 performances and an invocation dance lined up.. January is gonna be a month of dance. One of my friends is back.. My first training batch is over. Lots other things make me really happy too. This blog is named contrast as i have compared above the weather of yesterday and today.. My life works the same where I crib and the next moment i feel happy.. So.. There is some global warming happening inside me too !!!

Hey. I ve been thinking of a topic to blog on for ages but its never happened.. Bloggers out there.. Pls help me.. Until then......

Cheers

SPEAK YOUR MIND !!! Guest Post 2

Hi everyone!

It is my turn to disappoint everyone who came here to read a perfectly written article with lots of emotions and elegant words by charming Ms. AJ. 'Post Purchase Dissonance!' That’s not happening this time. You are here to read the words of a very confused and a sluggish big boy. That’s right you are reading an article which was due last week.

I should probably begin by thanking AJ for this opportunity but I am going to save that for the last. Let’s speak about something important. Shall we! Something very critical. Something that defines us. (Yes I know that you have heard about speaking your mindfor a loooong time and from looots of people.) But interestingly enough most of us are not doing a good job at it. Come on let’s be honest about it.

Ok! Let me start. I am really bad at it. More so I did not realize I was not doing it for a long time. I always believed speaking your mind was rude. And that I should never offend anyone, especially friends (Yeah I know am a nice guy :-) ). What I failed see was there is something which I was giving up all the time! My Right! Right to speak! Right to my have my opinion and more so Right to define myself.

Let’s see it in very simply way, things that happen with our friends. How many times did we have to go to a lousy movie just because our so called gang of friends wanted to see ? How many times did we have to do a shitty favor of buying a gift for a friend’s girl friend just because he doesn’t have good taste(well …when it comes to buying for women, who does?) or how may precious minutes in our life have we lost doing something we never wanted to do ? How many opportunities have we missed because at the right time we were not able to say what we wanted to? I could just go on.

I remember when I was in my 1st year of engineering a very young lecturer put this in a nice way or should I say very understandable words for my age at that time “If you like a girl don’t just stare at her and do favors for her. Tell her how you feel because sooner or later some Shahruk khan will appear out of nowhere and take her away” Sounds lame uh? Maybe! But this statement made a me realize a lot of things at that time. (BTW I did tell her and yet Shahruk khan appeared. That’s a different story)

Never ever worry about hurting your friend by speaking your mind. If you don’t hurt them that once! You’ll end up getting hurt a lot more times. Finding it very difficult to say NO? Go through this article: www.bbc.co.uk/relationships/improving_your_confidence/exercise_mind.shtml. It might help.

Having a different opinion and yet doing quite the opposite, just because you could not speak for some reason, is really like insulting yourself. When you voice your opinion and choices you define yourself, you are letting everybody know what you are, what you want and how you think. When you define yourself, the society aligns itself to accommodate you. I agree there might be some lose in this process but it could not be bigger than losing your identity.

Not just with friends, with your family and especially at your work place. It is always better to let your preferences and choices be known. Voice your concerns! You might not just be doing yourself a favor but also helping out others who are not confident enough to do it on their own. Do not commit to anything you are not comfortable with.

If you observe it closely it all comes down to believing in yourself. You can not define what you are if do not believe you are worth that or if you think what you are defining is not worth enough. We know life is short, let’s not waste it on making everyone happy by suppressing our own interests. You might not get time in life to live like you want and do what you want, if you don’t speak your mind.

And why am I talking about this on AJ’s page??? Let me tell you! I have known AJ for almost 3 years now, sharing a classroom for 2 of it. I have never seen her doing something she did not want to do. I know what all she’s been through and never once have I ever seen her not standing up for what she believed in. That is something I have always admired about her and something which she inspires me with.

@ AJ: Congrats on your 1 year of writing. Keep going! And thank you so much for the opportunity.

Cheers

A Post by Chrony !!! (Guest Post 1)

What is our aim in life?

We often try to predict the future based on the past but neither one exist. Both are illusions. There is no past. There is no future... The only thing that exist is the present state.

Furthermore none of us do not even know what we really want in life. Our real desire is to meet life as it is, even though we don't understand what that means. Through this invisible cord of dreams we are all connected to another world - a place beyond description, space, time, cause and effect.

This same cord vibrates in different frequency leveles when our emotions are manifested through the times of sadness and happiness, loneliness and togetherness.
These emotions might even bring out different emotions in us but our subconscious mind dosent really know what makes us happy or sad, it just expresses itself based on the emotion that we run through the chambers of our brain and the response action because of this expression is entirely based on OUR decision on how we choose to respond to the world.

Are we going through a dark phase in life and are we expecting a light beam in our downtrodden present state of mind? Does it look like the end?

Believe me! rather; believe in yourself!! It is just the beginning.

Lessons From Life - 1

Heyi,

If the title of the post gives an image that its yet another post on my own philosophy, the answer is no. I did think I should not write it here. But I felt that sharing this kind of experiences would also help others console themselves if they have experienced the same situation.

Suddenly, yesterday, I was goin through a lot of nostalgia. Though nostalgia has become part of my life for a few days now. Its because I work in the place where I completed my post graduation. A few places in the campus do gimme glimpses of our presence over there. Now its like jus me in that place. Leave that apart. So, when I felt this I thought about people who did be an important part of my life jus left me like that, and people who genuinely loved me, I neglected. Thats where this started, the lesson learning.

I have this very good friend of mine, Call him "SK" I d even say my best buddy, who i met during my Undergrad. He was like any other guy, but was always extra careful with my things. I wouldve mentioned him enough number of times in this blog cause he plays a major role in my life apart from my parents and my special someone. It might look like am jus exaggerating it. But its not, there are moments we feel happy when some one cares for us. Genuine Care. I spoke to him lots thru the day, took his advices, studied with him, freaked out too. He always had an eye on my future and my development. Once he left for his studies outta town, our correspondence drastically reduced. Though we did share the same kinda companionship for each other. In that point of my life 2 people got introduced.

These two people I wouldn like to mention names, may be call them KR and DJ. They were very nice to me, one was a great freak out pal and the other, a big brother. I did share a nice bond with them and luckily a great rapport. At this time i started neglecting my best buddy SK for no particular reason. But he still was the same to me and i was the same to him too. He craved for my attention which i din give him as much as he deserved. Rather gave attention people who I thought deserved it. One has left me because of his girl friends orders and the other has left me for no reason. The best part of it is that, they din have the guts to tell me that they had a problem and needed a break from me. If it was mentioned polite enough i wouldn jus have given a damn. I woulda surely been concerned bout their lives. Rather, both of them jus stopped talking to me one day and jus din reply messages. It took me a lot of persuasion time to know reasons.

Today, I am left with him again. My best SK. You wouldn believe I called him yesterday and promised him outta the blue sayin that i d talk to him daily once atleast rather than once in 2 or 3 days and give him the time and attention he always longed for. He still is the same, even after my this kind of weird behavior. He still waits for my time, gives me his best side, and remains my best advisor. This is jus a small instance. He called me when i was practising Guitar. I jus asked him if he wants to listen. He was so enthusiastic bout it and said yes and i played to him the only 2 songs i ve learnt, i have got 75 percent. He says super and good for that. Thats where a friend is, a motivator. Makes your day !!!

I know it woulda looked like an emotional rambling, but its all true. Every one does experience somethin like this in some point of his life. The lesson i learnt. "Make the right choice and prioritize, Always stick to it." Thanks SK for being with me so far and also for the years to come.

I intend to write on some nice topic, very soon, so see you back

Cheers

A Day to Remember !!

Heyi,

It is bright over night !! Wow ! Look at that rhyme.. Hey guys. I came up with that line by the way. So. How u guys been doin.. I ve been doin really great.. Coming to the topic of the day.. A Day to remember..

This was a really tiring, exciting, worked up as well as an enjoyable day in my life. That was Nov 4th. It was a really special day to me. There were a lot of people who made it special nd lot of things too.. Now i ve already told this story to a sizable number of people and this is jus another form of publicity...

Nov 4 th was the scholarship function at SSN. Most of you woulda read in papers too. Kapil Sibal was the chief guest. and Mr.Shiv Nadar, our founder cum Chairman of HCL was present too. He is considered a great man. Till 2 days prior to the scholarship function i had nothin to do with this stuff. My boss jus called me ta help him out to train the volunteers who had to receive the guests and take them on a campus tour. So we started, did it for 2 whole days. The D Day arrived. I also had an invite to join the dinner party as i was an alumni executive member. Though i was mentally prepared to leave home at 5, i jus stayed on for no particular reason and that turned out to be fruitful. I was damn tired that day after a day ful of work and sat for singer Karthik' concert at 7. That was one treat i knew would surely pep my energy levels. And there he came and took me away with his magical voice.. With Oru Malai, Hasili Fasiliye, Vizhi Moodi and the most famous Anjala, he also touched on Mitwa and the Rock on song.. And not to forget his evergreen Manram Vantha.. At the end of the show i left that place with full contentment.. This was one of the nice things..

Next comes this.. My boss' appreciation.. He said Thanks ta me and that i helped him out at the right time.. That was so genuine.. I jus loved it !!

We then proceeded to the Taj Fisherman' Cove. There was dinner.. I had a great time with the alumni committee members.. And then came The moment.. I shook hand with none other than Shiv Nadar. An international figure.. It was nice getting introduced to him.. We also took a pic with him !! It was nice.. At the end of it ! A nice drive on the ECR, in a nice weather, drizzling..

I was back at 12 in the night with a nice contended day. Tired but happy and satisfied !!!

Cheers

2 States...

Heyi,

Damn Yaar.. I wanted ta share the review of the book first and Sowmi did it first... I have been typin this post for 2 days not finding time ta complete it.. I feel sad.. seriously.. Anyway.. I will share my opinion.

It was about my latest Book.. 2 States by Chetan Bhagat... Its about Inter-Caste sorry Inter State marriages.. A nice light read. But it did make me actually think.. Is it such a taboo to marry a guy from another community ??

This book 2 states was an autobiography. I would not call it a complete autobiography cause there was a lot of drama and fiction added to it(this I call Masala). The story revolved around a Tam Brahm(Tamil Brahmin), a namesake vegetarian girl and a Punjabi kudi boy. Both of them Big heads. IIM geeks. They meet at IIM and fall for each other and practically live together for 2 years. And while leaving decide to convince their parents. Our hero comes down to Chennai first and opens up the trap for her family, manages to trap them too !! While its the madame who finds it difficult with a most unacceptable mother and a present but non existent father. How at last the marriage happens in Chennai.. In the tam Brahm style not to forget the mickey mouse underwear seen through his translucent Dhothi.
This made me think as to if its really difficult adapting to different cultures. For example if a girl and guy from different communities marry will they be happy ? There can be 2 points to it..
  1. Their love for each other might keep them going and they might sacrifice things for each other and adjust too.. brings a lot of mutual understanding and harmony.
  2. They might each expect the other person to adjust, sacrifice and say u do it if u love me and finally you know where it leads you too.
I am not against any inter community marriages though., If there is a lot of understanding Wow. nothing like it !! I also had another hitch. Whose style will the marriage be conducted in? So researching i found that it can be anyway. So, y not both the ways so that there is an opportunity ta get married twice. I know ma just going into too much detail. Still..

This book i finish in just 1 and a half days. And also the book kept me really happy.. that's about the book.. Diwali was fun and i had a great time. Post Diwali was Aadhavan film.. Which i think i would have spit on the screen if not for Surya.

Apart from that work keeps me busy.. Guitar keeps me going.. and my dance performance dates keep me on the move.. But blog is where all comes together so see you soon with another post..

Cheers

Music - An Elixir !

Heyi,

Quite a number of times you woulda noticed me scribble about Music healing the soul. I am a believer of Music being one of the most powerful things in the world. Not only music, art as such.. Any art form is a skill and not jus a knowledge as one of my friends always says. Not that people cannot learn it but a person who already has the skill has an edge !!!!

So, now why did i talk bout music. thats because yet again i experienced a brainwave i had after listening to music. This time it was soul upliftment and excitement when i hear the Fatak song from Kaminey... Its a must atleast hear once to jus have that feel of jumping !! Apart from that i always feel i have this liking to my music just because it does a lot of emotional changes in me..

The best thing music does when you miss someone is that it reminds of your best moments with the.. Provided you listen to the right kinda music. It also contributes to your sudden joy. The next few songs which have made impact on me for 3 days now are the Hasili Fasiliye from Aadhavan, Bhoola thuje from Blue etc.. Though these are temporary attractions there are songs which stay with you all through life and giving you the most pleasant memories.

This also reminds me of a small speech the a top ENT gave at a medical conference.. I know you wondering what i have ta do with medical conference.. Nothin technical.. I jus dances at their inauguration ceremony. After our performnce the doctor who runs an ENT foundation said. He jus talked about how two totally different organs with opposite functions are interconnected like the ear and mouth. And then he said that there was one thing common to both the organs and that was "Vibration". And he also said that art forms like music and dance spread a lot of positive vibration. And that even differently abled people can sense vibration and that music has no limitations. Thats when i realized how important it was.. Music Soothes the Soul. OKie.. Thats for now. Am crashing for the day. before that pls to listen ta Fatak !!

Diwali Diyas !!!

Heyi,

Am writing to jus let down all my nostalgic feelings.. Before i go ahead, i wanna wish all my readers a very very happy and safe diwali.. I write here in the eve of Diwali with a lot of satisfaction, contentment happiness at the same moment a heart full of memories and a distant nostalgia..

This is one nice set of diyas i came across and i though i would display it here...

Today, I had a great day.. Wake Up Sid with friends, West Side shopping and Ice creams hogging made my day. It was yet another typical holiday but turned out ta be such a nice day.. So apart from that its Diwali eve aptly Deepavali.. Its tradition to light lamps, visit family and friends, make and share sweets, burst crackers and wear new clothes. As usual all these things have a story behind such celebrations.. Lord Krishna Killed a demon Narakasuran and people celebrate his death as Diwali.

S0, wats the nostalgia all about. Its about my the Diwali get together at my maternal grand ma's place. That was till she was alive. My moms family is really big with her 7 brothers and so i have a lot of cousins !!! That makes a hell lot of under one roof on one evening shouting and jumping and literally hogging the sweets which our kutti mami makes. Our fights for the share of payasam, chase to keep the first rocket, and around 10 of us running at the lighting of an atom bomb.. There was a phase when i used to light the crackers in hand and throw them.. Jus to depict heroism.. Used to come back home so dirty withy hands grey, have a wash and indulge in every savory made early in the morning. I even remember having competition with my old apartment neighbor, my close friend for keeping the first cracker in the morning.. I used always win cause i used to be down at 5 to start bursting.. These memories still gimme tears when i see a diwali with jus 4 of us now.. Though my family members come for diwali, it will never be like my paatis house and all of us there together again.

Though now i am gifted to live in a nice big apartment with 72 flats and so many kids around bursting crackers.. Makes it a lively festival place.. And the spirit always keeps goin on..

For now, I don burst much crackers.. I jus wear my new clothes and burst some as par of tradition and have a nice relaxed Diwali.. go temple, see films on TV, talk ta friends, visit some family members and jus have a nice festive day..

So, yet again have a great diwali.. light a lotsa diyas and make ur home and life colorful and bright.

Cheers and Lights
